The second shift Maintenance manager provides leadership, cross-functional development, and technical expertise to packaging and utility maintenance personnel in various stages of team development. This position is responsible for team development/effectiveness, process manufacturing and packaging equipment, and all activities affecting them.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise and technical guidance as needed to resolve issues that surface during job execution

  • Acts as a resource for troubleshooting equipment problems, identifies need for new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to optimize throughput

  • Facilitates focus on continuous improvement activities

  • Manages adherence to department maintenance metrics, design standards and utilization of downtime tracking, MOE, SMED, and other available tools

  • Oversees performance of preventive maintenance and plant shutdown activities Coaches mechanics and other direct reports in an Employee Involvement Culture

  • Assists the team with development of objectives and ensures alignment with site goals

Assesses employee training/development needs, assesses the maturity of the team, and adjusts leadership style to enhance team performance

Education Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma plus 8 years relevant work experience OR B.S./B.A. degree (science, engineering or other technical field) is preferred with 5 years relevant work experience plus the below specified experience required.

Required Experience and Skills**:

  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, mechanical/electrical skills, and problem solving skills.

  • Experience with and understanding of maintenance processes, common equipment and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

  • Must possess ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings and specifications.

  • Must possess the ability to interface with and understand the production processes, timing and priorities for the area supported.

  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Must be goal-oriented and able to manage risks.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Relevant work experience encompassing a working knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge and/or experience with formal problem solving techniques as it relates to a hands-on approach to problem solving, such as root cause analysis and/or Lean Six Sigma tools

  • Working knowledge of cGMPs and of regulatory requirements

  • Technical writing experience
