Eaton Corporation EHS Intern (Summer 2018) in Middlesex, North Carolina

Eaton’s Hydraulic facility in Middlesex, NC is looking for an EHS Intern for Summer of 2018.

Under the direct supervision of the EHS Manager the EHS Intern will support the site with day to day needs of safety programs, special projects, and acquire knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety management.

During this assignment the candidate will gain experience through various areas in the manufacturing facility as it relates to EHS and will work with people at various levels of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for maintaining regulatory compliance for OSHA and EPA regulations including air permitting.

  • Assist in tracking, reporting, and analyzing environmental and safety performance metrics

  • Assist with developing and/or updating safety programs (i.e. hazard communication, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, machine guarding, LOTO, inspection program process etc.)

  • Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) review, modification or creation by position or activity

  • Assist in the development and review of EHS training and policy documents

  • Participate in EHS sub-teams (i.e. ergonomics, gemba walks etc.)

  • Gain knowledge of Eaton’s MESH system and an understanding of how the company is moving towards sustainability and participating as environmental stewards for the community.

All above projects will contribute to increased regulatory compliance, help improve TRCR by reducing injuries and illnesses through proactive risk management, and overall process enhancement for EHS programs and policies.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field.

  • Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (please do not round).

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent on-going basis.

  • Outstanding academic credentials

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills

  • Demonstrates a strong desire and ambition to be a leader

  • Proficient in Excel & PowerPoint

  • A second language is beneficial but not required
